New Year, New Glasses

Happy super belated new years everyone!  Sorry it’s been a while since my last post but I have been struggling with keeping myself motivated since the holidays.  I planned to get caught up on some reading and blogging but I pretty much just bummed around my parents house until after Christmas.  Just before new years I realized that i wanted to get new glasses and frantically braved the end of year crowds to decide which frames I wanted.

I’ve worn glasses since elementary school but never really saw them as a fashion piece.  In high school I finally convinced my parents to let me get contacts and I have worn them most days since then.  I really only wear glasses before bed and on the few days were my eyes are too irritated for contacts.  In fact, I had put such a low priority on glasses that it had been over 5 years since my last pair.

However, this year I was really feeling a change.  With all the fashionable frames out there, I really wanted to embrace glasses and incorporate them more into my everyday style.  i decided to go to LenseCrafters and try out a few pairs.  The sales associate even took a few pictures of me in different frames so i could get a better idea of which ones worked for me.  Since I have such a narrow face it was hard to find a pair that didn’t overpower my face.  I ended up getting the Ray Ban RX5286 and it was love at first sight.  I got them in the tortoise shell and i think they suit my blue green eyes really well.

I’m absolutely in love with the classic look they give and I can’t wait to pair them with a bold lip and a classy updo at work.  It’s amazing how a new pair of frames can spark such excitement and a burst of creativity but these babies are really bringing out post ideas that I can’t wait to put out in the upcoming months.

Do you wear glasses?  If so, how do you like to style your frames?

  2. I've been meaning to get new frames of my own but really have no idea where to get them here as the designs are pretty limited to traditional frames. I'll probably get new ones once I get the chance to get out of the country, though.

  3. This post couldn't have come at a better time! I've been thinking about getting more stylish glasses too and I have to say - I LOVE your choice! I think these would encourage me to ditch the contact lenses!

  6. Happy belated New Year to you :) I was prescribed glasses like 10 years ago, I hardly wear them so as a result my eyes got bad. I need to change my glasses and I will probably go for something similar, it looks cool!
