So, I fell for the cute packaging ploy yet a gain and bought these on a whim. Below is my review!
Here are the basics:
- Currently their are 12 shades in the range.
- They retail at Target for about $4.49 each.
- Almay describes them as "whipped powder shadows." So, I'm guessing that would be a cream to powder type formula?

Lilac is a somewhat frosty purple and was the color that first caught my eye when I looked through the display. I have been on the hunt for a nice lilac shade and thought this might be the one. On the lids it practically disappears after a single swipe but you can build the color to get more intensity. However, the name softie just doesn't mean they feel soft but I think it also means the colors are softer and not too intense. Don't expect to get a bold eye look from these shadows. After building up the intensity of Lilac, I noticed that it looks really shimmery on the eye. The shadow lasted about 8 hrs on my eyes and barely faded and did not crease. I used the Nars Eyeshadow Primer to help bring out the intensity and I don't normally have issues with eyeshadow creasing.
Smoke is a dark purplish grey with shimmer. The shimmer is not very noticeable once you apply it to the lid. I was hoping for more intensity form this color since it looks so dark in the pan but it was barely noticeable on the eye. I had to really build this shade to get it to show up in my crease.
I applied both shades with my fingers since I had read from other bloggers that brushes don't work well with this formulation. The texture of these eyeshadows have been compared to the Maybelline Bouncy Blushes that came out a few years ago.
Overall, I was not impressed with these eyeshadows. Unless you want a light wash of color, I would save your money.
