L'oreal Magic De-Crease Eyelid Primer Review

L'oreal, eye, primer, drugstore, dupe, review
I have been on the hunt for a good drugstore alternative to my well loved NARS eyeshadow primer. When I was picking up a few other makeup products at Target this caught my eye and I decided to try it out.

It cost around $8 at Target. The amount of product you get is less than the Nars primer, .19oz compared to .28oz. However, the Nars is roughly 3x the price, so you are still getting a better value for your money.

Like the Nars primer, it has a doe foot applicator. I personally don’t mind this application method but some may find it a bit annoying when trying to get the last bit of product out. I usually have a hard time finishing eyeshadow primers within their shelf life so this is never a problem for me.

The application is smooth and the product blends onto the skin well. The beige skin toned color provides a nice base for neutral looks and as well as more colorful eyeshadows. In terms of enhancing the intensity of eyeshadows, it does a noticeable job.

However, staying power isn’t that great. Half way through the day I noticed a little bit of creasing and it only got worse by the end of the day. It’s the dead of winter and my skin is at its driest. If this primer creases on me now, I can’t imagine how bad it would look in the summer.

Overall, I was a little disappointed by this primer. With its sleek packaging and more economical price point, I hoped that this primer would be able to replace my NARS primer. Unfortunately I don’t think this is the case. I will play around with this primer some more because I really want it to work out. If I find anything different, I will fill you in.

What is your favorite eyeshadow primer?

  1. It's a shame that the product proved to be disappointing, but you did a great job with this post. I loved how you used a magazine/ad page as your photo backdrop. That was very clever!

    1. The Urban Decay Primer Potion is awesome! I've only owned Painterly Paint Pot from MAC but I really liked it as well.
