Current Obsession // Chelsea Boots

Chelsea boots have been on trend for the last few years but they only recently peaked my interest.  Thanks to the Future of Fashion series by British Vogue featuring Alexa Chung, I developed a new interest in Alexa’s style.  After looking at countless images of her outfits, one piece stood out to me.  The Chelsea boot seems to be one of Alexa’s go to pieces and I was instantly mesmerized by how effortlessly chic a pair of boots can make your overall look.

After scouring my local stores and online retailers, I finally settled on a pair by Anne Taylor.  I’ve never purchased anything from them before, so I was a little skeptical of their quality.  Since the reviews online were constantly positive, I decided to get them.

I’ve only worn them out once but I can tell they are going to be a staple in my wardrobe.  When the weather isn’t quite cold enough for my ridding boots and I want something more sophisticated than my combat boots, these will be my go to boots.

The only thing that is a little bit of a bummer is that they rub my heal a bit when I wear them for a while.  Is this common with nicer shoes?  I’ve always heard cheaper shoes can rub your feet but I was recently told that higher quality leather is stiff until you break them in.  If anyone has any suggestions to break them in without blistering my feet, please let me know!

Do you have a pair of Chelsea boots?

  3. LOVE Chelsea boots, especially for the Winter! I don't know about breaking in the shoe without blistering but you could always wear a pair of really thick socks or maybe 3 or 4 normal ones to help loosen the leather! Alternatively, wear them out walking or shopping for a few hours and break them in that way? It may blister but it should do the trick!

  4. If they're good enough for Alexa, they are more than good enough for me ;) But in all seriousness, I absolutely love chelsea boots and have at least 6 pairs in all different colours. They're just so versatile and wearable!

  5. These chelsea boots looks gorgeous - stylish and comfortable, the perfect combination! With regard to breaking them in, I'm not sure I can be of much help.. though I have been known to wear fluffy socks in boots for the first few wears to ensure they're broken in without blistering! haha ;)

    1. A red pair sounds cool! I think you should definitely invest in a black pair. They are so easy to pair with any outfit.

  13. I don't own any chelsea boots. I own similar ones, but not proper ones and I think they're absolutely gorgeous. It's been a trend I've been wanting to get my hands (or feet in this case) on for a while.

I don't know any tips for breaking in shoes but I'll ask my grandmother and get back to you on that.
